In addition to lifesize pieces, I've been carving and selling "little" ducks, geese, songbirds, shorebirds, and other waterfowl for many years. These doll house sized miniatures are handcarved and painted the same way my full size carvings are made. Some of them are scaled down versions of my larger patterns and some are made from drawings or ideas especially developed for miniature carving. Often many are made by eye and are just whittled out without using any pattern, templates, or design concepts except what was in my minds eye. Each carving is made by hand with a knife and other tools. It is sanded smooth and sealed before being finished by brush painting with artists paints. Marian & I shared the task of painting this bird. We personally sign or initial each one of these little birds. They fit very well with any miniature collection and several of them together will make a very nice display all by themselves. This one is 11/16” tall and 1 & 1/4” in length.
